wiki project

A wiki (Listeni/ˈwɪk/ WIK-ee) is a website which allows its users to add, modify, or delete its content via a web browser usually using a simplified markup language or a rich-text editor.[1][2][3] Wikis are powered by wiki software. Most are created collaboratively.
Wikis serve many different purposes, such as knowledge management and notetaking. Wikis can be community websites and intranets, for example. Some permit control over different functions (levels of access). For example, editing rights may permit changing, adding or removing material. Others may permit access without enforcing access control. Other rules may also be imposed to organize content.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wiki

When Sandy suggested that we need to form group I joined Brenda and Thembeka, it seem as a good idea at the time because both are working for City of Cape Town libraries. The day the usual work starting, the registration I was absent and that had hicups or retarded our progress.I have not been invited to the group. Now we are left with 2 week max and  3 pages is a lot of work. But I hope things will gel up. I have looked at how to create a wiki

This wiki was created to be a one-stop shop for great ideas and information for all types of librarians. All over the world, librarians are developing successful programs and doing innovative things with technology that no one outside of their library knows about. There are lots of great blogs out there sharing information about the profession, but there is no one place where all of this information is collected and organized. That's what we're trying to do.http://www.libsuccess.org/index.php?title=Library_Success:_A_Best_Practices_Wiki

Ward Cunningham, the developer of the first wiki software, WikiWikiWeb, originally described it as "the simplest online database that could possibly work."[4] "Wiki" (pronounced [ˈwiti] or [ˈviti]) is a Hawaiian word meaning "fast" or "quick".[5][6]

Wiki Design Principles
Wiki has turned out to be much more than I'd imagined! That is not to say that I didn't imagine a lot. These are the design principles I sought to satisfy with the first release of Wiki. -- WardCunningham Note that this page is only a reconstruction from memory of intentions I held at the beginning. Additional principles, like server robustness, have been forced upon me.http://c2.com/cgi/wiki?WikiDesignPrinciples
